STORY: How the art came to be
Originally, I had in mind a labor intensive Photoshop graphic that
had me in the center of a circle with 40 or 50 versions of "me"
running around this circle. Pretty cool, right?
Then, here in Los Angeles--beginning on New Year's Eve--it began to
rain.
Alot.
I had scheduled the photo shoot for the next day (Jan 1) and hoped
that it would at some point stop raining. It did for a bit, but once
I got to where I wanted to shoot the photo, it started up again.
And it didn't stop for, oh...about 16 hours. After an hour or so, we
gave up and drove home.
The picture you see is through the passenger side window of my car,
in an alley next to where I live. As we were pulling up, we looked
and noticed how cool the fog and the beads of rain on the window
looked. I set up the shot in the camera, got outside and stood in
the rain. Out of about 20 shots or so, this one was the coolest.
They say that necessity is the mother of invention.
Here, the moral of the story is: Pause...but
don't stop. |
